NYC

Howdy all from a mighty tired person. Today we got up early and grabbed some great croissants from the continental breakfast at the lodge and discovered that all doughnuts are not created the same. Noah had a choice of about 12 different kinds of doughnuts, but none would do.

We walked the four blocks to the station, then took a bit figuring out just what we were doing. We took the PATH to the 33rd Street Station. We walked to the Empire State Building and were shocked by how quick we hot through the line and to the 86th floor. We didn't spring for the observatory, but the kids didn't seem to know that there was anything cooler than where we stopped. We looked through the viewing binoculars in a couple of locations. We also picked up a family souvenir photo that I will post when I get it scanned.

Next we got on the MTA and took it past our stop because the weekend schedule is different. Happily, a nice man overheard Michael trying to figure out the map and explained how it all worked. We got off and took the stairs to the other platform and took the A train to our stop at 81st Street. We stopped at the Natural History Musuem because the kids saw the movie "Night at the Museum". The docent inside said that the facade was the only thing filmed for the movie, so we took the facade photos and walked through Central Park to go to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We ate an ice cream on the way there and stopped in the park to eat them. I was bitten by something that left two small punctures at the back of my knee, but it never swelled...(knock on veneer covered MDF!)

The Met is gorgeous! The architecture fits the art pieces without taking away the attention from those pieces. Aaron really liked the "Arms and Armor" exhibit, Rachel liked the Medieval rooms, The Egyptian exhibit was pretty neat. The kids did the classic giggling when it came to the Greek and Roman section with the nude sculptures. Noah seemed to be interested in the Modern Art section. We took some funny photos of him trying to figure out the black painting by Mark Rothko.
The cafeteria's food was excellent and what a menu! WOW!

We're walking, we're walking...

We got back to the MTA, switched successfully to PATH and walked to the Mall in NJ. We decided to take the kids to the movie we have been promising Noah, which is Transformers. We got our tickets and I was about to call my mom when the fire alarm went off. They cleared the building and we waited in a walk way for about 15 minutes. It was a false alarm, so they let us back in and the movie started on schedule.

Transformers was a super-charged action flick, as expected. They should have left the colorful language out because of the huge draw this will be for kids. Their were some great humorous scenes with the robots. Noah said his favorite part was that the robots could change their arms into weapons. Music in the film is used with great effect.

:::::::::::Tomorrow's plans:::::::::::::::

Central Park Zoo, eat some New York style pizza and go to Serendipity.

With a smile on my face and a body with aching feet!

***BTW, the uplink cable is still missing and maybe in Philly.
