What Do You Sing At Dinner Time?

Our kids broke into this Spongebob and Plankton diddy:

They broke into an encore performance immediately. Luckily, no one choked on their food. The kids ate spaghetti with what Aaron calls crazy noodles (angel hair, elpow and capatavvi), while Michael and I ate pulled pork sandwiches with a mustard based sauce.
btw...Eve was eating dinner at the time.

Oh No, Godzilla!

Here are a couple of layouts with some fine dinosaur doodles:

This is Michael on his mission in Sapporo. As he stated, "When I was thin and had hair!" (He is still a HOTTIE!)

The kids and I enjoyed the dinosaur exhibits. There were a few hands on displays. The main exhibit was about chocolate, which was pretty neat. After we walked through that exhibit the kids and I got to touch an African Millipede. The exhibit on the senses is amazing, too. The giant bubble making is always a hit!

:::::::::::::::Aaron::::::::::::

is recovering from his dehydration, but the shoes have yet to be fixed.

::::::::::::::Swimming::::::::::

We are supposed to meet at Stephen's house for Family Home Evening, and swim. He has a salt water pool, which is so wonderful. The kids feel so much better after swimming in that solution as opposed to chlorine.

::::::::::::::Just Hung Out::::::

last night with the family eating Chinese food and watching "The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again". Eve really loved picking all the bamboo shoots out of the take out box and she cleaned her plate of chicken fried rice. Rachel picked all the shrimp from the Happy Family. Noah just picked at his food, while Aaron made a mild ham and swiss sandwich.

::::::::::::::A Real Frog-Strangler:::::

last night when I went to pick up the Chinese food. We have needed rain desperatley. Yeah for rain. I don't know if the percipitation has made its way to the Okefenokee area, but I hope so!

We just were eating breakfast and Aaron was pouting, so Michael told him to knock it off or he would get permanent frown lines in his forehead. Noah piped up and said, "Yeah! You'll end up looking like Squidword and dad!" We all busted out laughing, except for Aaron who kept pouting. Squidword is the clarinet playing, cashier octopus from Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Later gators! Smiles!

Music personality:

I am blogging and listening to my new music downloads from walm@rt.com. I think music is an interesting view into personalities, so I will post these for public review. I have a rather eclectic taste in music, so here it goes:

Stitched Up by Herbie Hancock featuring John Mayer
Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts (I really enjoy watching the movie Cars)
Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer
Still the One by Orleans
Real Wild Child by Iggy Pop (this totally peps me up)
Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw
Cha Cha Slide by Mr. C (The Original Live version...it annoys Michael, though)
Real Gone by Sheryl Crowe (also from the movie Cars)
My Little Girl by Tim McGraw (It makes me reflect on my daughters' growing up)
Where the Green Grass Grows by Tim McGraw (Really enjoy singing along with this one)

Here are a few earlier downloads I added to burn a cd for the car:

Through Being Cool by They Might be Giants
Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
Upside Down by Jack Johnson
Should I Stay of Should I Go by The Clash
Love Song by The Cure
Friday I'm in Love by The Cure

Another Cd we are listening to is Weird Al's new one: Straight Outta Lynwood

Michael says he identifies with a large percentage of the song "White and Nerdy".

:::::::::BTW:::::::::::::
Eve was quoting large amounts of dialogue from Spongebob today. My kids really need to get over their colds and go out to play!!!!!!!

:::::::::My Current Read:::::

Michael thought I would be interested in this book, so he checked it out for me at the library. I find forensics fascinating, but I don't watch CSI or any of those prime time shows. On the weekends I catch Forensic Files, Skeleton Stories, Cold Case Files are some show of that nature on cable at my mom's house. I learned from the show Skeleton Stories that because I'm a caucasian female I have a protuding spot underneath my nasal cavity that will hold a pen. This is one way of discerning race from a skull. In middle and high school I would show my friends a trick I had of moving a pen from my mouth to my upper lip, then back to my mouth, flip the pen around and stick it back to my upper lip. I didn't realize my race had anything to do with my ability to pull that trick off.

:::::::::::::::::HOUSE STUFF:::::::::::

The guys from Overhead Door Company came and installed our new garage door a couple of days ago. It is a carriage door with bean hinges. I'll try to remember to snap some photos.

Michael was able to replace the hinge on one of our base cabinets I broke when I incorrectly tried to hammer in the plate.

More demolition on the back deck tomorrow if a couple of our friends can come by a rip up deck boards.

Ciao!

Halloween Costumes:

Eve as Tinkerbell:

Noah as Patrick Star (Spongebob's best friend):

Rachel was a lovely Rag doll:

Aaron received the most compliments for his costume:

His Uncle Stephen, made the chain mail by hand. Michael contributed the fabric with the fleur de lis. The bow was borrowed from Grandpa Jim:

A.D. IV ID. OCT.MMVI and Spongebob:

Aaron and I were not having a great morning going over his math work. He refuses to believe he got any of the equations wrong because if they are wrong he has to redo the problems. After talking with Michael, Aaron sat down to go over the math work. He was still being somewhat belligerent. Before we learn the new math concept we do a section of "mental math" where he answers questions allowed without writing anything down. Aaron decided to give me all of the answers in Roman numerals. He was trying to annoy me at first, but I started laughing and then he started laughing. I appreciated the fact that he was getting the answers correct and in an ancient numbering system. When the last answer was zero he asked how you stated zero in Roman numerals. The Romans did not have the concept of zero and here is a couple of fun links to learn more about Roman numerals and their calendar:

Roman Calendar ConversionsRoman CalendarThe initial 'A.D.' stands for ante diem - days before - not AD Anno Domini.

::::::::::::::::::::::
Two days ago michael and I made shredded pork sandwiches with pork tenderloin I put in the crock pot. It turned out perfectly. I cooked the meat on high for 6 hours in about 2 cups of water. I picked up some mustard based barbeque sauce from a restaurant we really liked in Charleston, S.C.

Sticky Fingers

Charleston location

Most of the barbeque sauce we use in Georgia is tomato based, so finding the Memphis style barbeque was a fun departure from the status quo!
::::::::::::::::::::::

YEAH! COOL! MARVY! NEAT! HURRAY! DUDE, REALLY?!

He reminds me of the babe. The babe with the power. The power of voodoo. Who do? You do! Jareth, I mean, David Bowie is going to do voice a character on Spongebob. He watches the show with his 6 year-old daughter and is excited to be on the show. My kids get a kick out of spongebob and they really like "Labyrinth"!

:::::::::::::::::::::::

Yet, more exciting news on the literary front...2 cool books are coming out! Yes, 2!

Book the 13th, The End by Lemony Snicket

and

Escape from the Carnivale (A Neverland Adventure) by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson

:::::::::::::::::::::::::

One of Michael's associates at work sent this to him and I thought I would pass the laugh along:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson went on a camping trip. After a good meal they laid down and went to sleep.

Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Watson replied, "I see millions and millions of stars."

Holmes asked, "What does that tell you?"

Watson pondered the question. "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Chronologically, I deduce that the time is approximately five past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all-powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Holmes was silent for a minute, and then spoke. "Watson, you blithering idiot! What it tells me is that some thief has stolen our tent!"

Wild Wind of Badlands

Fonts: Mr. B & Hard Rock
Kits/Papers/Elements: Michelle Coleman's Good Karma, staples from Emma's Sundress, Rhinestones from Jen Wilson's Dried Leaves.
Extras: MCO Glitter Doodles from Birthday, Overlay by Nancy Rowe Janitz, number brush stamps from MCO's Emma's Sundress

This is one of my favorite photos of Rachel in Badlands, S.D. She loved being blown by the strong winds.

BTW, my children are currently arguing over how to capitalize Sponge Bob's name in a sentence. The argument has to do if his name is officially Sponge Bob or Sponge Bob Square Pants. This inane conversation has degenerated into pinching and he/she called each other a loser, so I shall go put myself in time out because I need the peace and quiet. I believe I've earned my 30 minutes plus of time out (my mom would vouche for that statement)!
