Who Loves Ya Baby?!:

I used to watch a lot of television as a kid and the ones that drew me in the most were the detective shows. My kids think I'm weird because if we are watching t.v. at my mom's house (satellite dish) I choose shows like Forensic Files, Mystery Diagnosis, Investigative Reports or Cold Case Files. Since the new version of Nancy Drew was out I started thinking about what guy detective shows I liked growing up. Here are a few:

I love the way Columbo would fluster people as he asked them questions. I wanted a huge car like Cannon. I always thought Kojak was ultra cool because of the lollipop.

Raymond Burr was always sharply dressed and spoke directly and to the point. Barbara Hale as his girl Friday added sharp wit, intelligence, and loyalty.

The good guys were always fun to watch, too. I really loved Barnaby Jones and I wanted to be Lee Meriwether. Barnaby was always seemed like the nicest guy. The Hardy Boys was another fav. I was enamored with Parker Stevenson. I thought Shaun Cassiday was cute, but that his adam's apple needed its own zip code. One day when Michael and I were driving somewhere I asked him if he knew who had the biggest adam's apple in the entire world and he answered immediately...Shaun Cassiday. I was in awe of his quick response and like thinking. It is weird to say that somehow I knew this guy could think like me with my quirky sense of humor. We have been married for almost 18 years and he tells people he can speak "Wife". He says that he speaks the "Victoria" dialect of "Wife", so it doesn't apply to all women...just to me. He can try to translate what other women are really saying, but he tells people it won't be as accurate. So, when I think of the Shaun Cassiday's adam's apple story I just laugh a goofy laugh and think of my wonderful husband's quick wit.

I almost forgot one of my favorites and that is James Garner as Jim Rockford in The Rockford Files. He has a mix of intelligence, charisma and downright good looks. He is still quite handsome in his old age.

Bathroom Rant:

What do most folks do the first day their kids are off school? If they are sane they may take the kids to the park or to the pool. I let mine watch Jeff Corwin movies about bats (they watched this one twice because they love flying foxes), amphibians, and different animal encounters. Aaron was off to a friend's house most of the day and Noah played computer games, which he kept asking me to read the directions. So, while they were mostly being self-sufficient I cleaned my bathroom and theirs.
Now for the rant: ARGH! I always cringe when I clean the bathroom knowing that in seconds the surfaces will be defiled by my family members. It is the same reason I hate doing laundry. You clean it. They put it on, then get it dirty and it winds up on the floor in just a few days for the process to start over again. The other thing I hate is that anyone can miss the large hole in which to deposit their offerings to the porcelain g*d. I'm thinking it wouldn't be so bad to build a guardrobe, but we don't have that much room between our house and the neighbors to let the smell waft. Also, my dear husband chooses to trim his own hair in the bathroom whilst sitting on commode, or standing in the shower, so fine black and grey hairs get sprinkled like some pepper around the bathroom and in crevices. It's kinda of like a chihuahua blew up! In the kids' bathroom there is a smearing of different colored toothpastes on the counter and the mirror behind the sink. You know the culprit by the toothpaste colors. Green (watermelon flavored Colgate) that would be Noah's, Red (strawberry favored Colgate) that would be Eve. Toothpaste spit on the mirror that is usually Aaron. Rachel's M.O. I'm not so sure about.

Product endorsement for the day is a nice, but not overwhelming smell and cleaning ability of Lysol Bathroom Cleaner.

My name was the first one picked from the hat for a gift certificate to 2 Peas. I'm so excited!

Noah is demanding to be back on the computer!

Later, Smiles!

:::::::::::::::::::::Ali Edwards::::::::

Interview with Ali Edwards found in the Scrap Girls Newsletter:
(Excerpt):

8. If you could change anything about scrapbooking, what would it be?
I think what I would really like to change is the misconception that the people who do this are the ones with tons of time on their hands. Come on! Everyone is busy; everyone has stuff going on in their lives. Creating is really a lifestyle choice.

:::::::::::::::::Experiment:::::::::
Michael, Noah and Rachel did an experiment on Thursday night and I am making a layout of their experience. I will try to post it tomorrow. They were so excited.

::::::::::::::::When I Am Old:::::

If that isn't already a loaded statement from an adult I'm not sure what would qualify. My mom set herself up last week by asking the question, "When I am old can Granny come live with you?" All four of the children were in the room at the time and Aaron, Rachel and Eve gave Granny Sue a quick reply of, "Of course, Granny you can come live with us." Eve added that she could sleep in her room because she had two beds. Noah on the other hand replied, "Why would you want to do that?"
If I got that last line wrong send me a correction, mom!

Sam Taylor We Will Miss You:

An old family friend died last week of a massive coronary. His name was Sam Taylor. He could remember the call letters of my stepfather's C.B. He could remember verbatim conversations that you had with him. Sam's memory was astounding, but his limitation was autism. My brother, Denny, is perpetually hovering around 4 years-old in communication and understanding (from what we can tell). Sam functioned on a genius level. Sam had high aspirations, but being the U.S. President would always elude him. He loved to meet politicians and he was honest. So being autistic and honest would have always kept him from the inner circle of politics. He loved to shake hands with the governors of Georgia. This layout shows Sam, his grandmother, my mother, and brother with the, then, Governor George Busbee.

In Rhonna Farrer's interview in Creative Keepsakes she mentioned one of her new favorite font's called >Newcastle. I went on to check the website called CHANK and found some other wonderful free fonts. The Halloween Font pak by B.J. Harvey was pretty cool. I also liked Cowboy Rumbahut by Matt Frost. There are several neat fonts so see what you think!

Also check Rhonna'sblog she has a link to 5 png files that are awesome for some Halloween fun on cards or layouts. Her link is not only for digital folks. If you paperscrap she has stuff for them too!

This is my "creation" for the Outrageous Lyric challenge at Scrap Artist. I chose the B 52's song "Love Shack". I figured being from Georgia and having driven down the Atlanta Highway was a good enough reason. So here it is:

Noah has his first pack meeting tonight with his Tiger Cub pack. He is excited. Michael just called from the scout office to pick up the missing uniform pieces. Michael had all of Aaron's old patches removed rather quickly. He will have them sewed on in no time.

I need to go throw some chicken into the slow cooker. I think chicken enchiladas might be good for today!
