The Tooth Fairy Sets Up A Tent at The Taylor House...

Noah was brushing his teeth, this morning, and came down with a tooth in his hand. He said it got stuck in between the bristles. He now has both of his two front teeth gone. Rachel's molar was the other day. With the way the economy is going we may just slip a few dollars in as a request with the 700 billion dollar bailout. I'm not sure anyone would notice.


Thank you to everyone who called and emailed about my last post! Y'all are AWESOME! Also, thank you to Suzanne for the crazy old advertisement email. I will never look at Lysol the same way again...EVER! I also think choosing to walk with my bad foot is still a better method at weight lose then a bottle of tape worms. :)

Come enjoy the North Georgia jewels, Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River in a boat. Kayak trips, Buford Dam to Settles Bridge, 5 miles, 2 + hours only $10, shuttle included. Convenient shuttle times.

We had a fun paddling in the 48 degree farenheit water, while the air was in the warm 80s. We saw a couple of blue herons, sunning turtles, mallards and a few fly fisherman. It turns out to get a photo with me in it you have to go with a friend who dares take her nice, digital camera and a Ziploc down the river.

I finished my royal icing flowers for my final class. I put the final product away before snapping a photo, but I do have a few to upload tomorrow. I will bake the cake and put a crumb coat on Monday. I also have my color flow pieces done. I'm hoping that nothing gets demolished before "game" time.

Yesterday, I took out some stuff to recycle, started a load of dishes, then laid down to read my book (Mrs. Dalloway)while waiting the last 30 minutes for the kids to come home on the bus. I set my glasses down for a minute, then I heard banging on the door. Apparently, I can fall asleep! I don't think I have had proper sleep in 14 years and since my short cat nap doesn't really count my record is secure. ;) It is nice to know my body still can sleep okay, if given the chance. I think I must have the need for spontaneous napping because I'm pretty sure if I set out to nap someone would have called, or I would have a thousand things going through my mind that would have distracted me.

Rachel was invited to go with a friend to see the Jonas Brothers in concert. She called me all giddy around 11:00pm to tell me she was on the way home. She plopped into bed a little after 12:00am. Surprisingly, she was hard to wake up today. I hope she blogs about the concert. She said Demi Lavato was the opening act and it was Demi's birthday, as well. Brynna was so kind to invite Rachel.

My neighbor, Kristen, needed some vinegar for a marinade, so I gave her a few tablespoons. In return her daughter brought over two delicious slices of steak. The taste was delightful. I'm hoping for the recipe!

Off to go walking and help in the school library! :)

Michael blogged about taking Aaron and a few of the scouts rock climbing. They did a great job and all of them made it to the top of each route.

in the dictionary you might not see this definition for the word: Disarray, but it is the state of Rachel and Eve's room. I have it torn up, so that I can organize it and get ready for school to start. I have been cleaning, purging and creating donation bags. I'm so happy that I haven't found any old candy. I did find a library book that is due today that had fallen behind Rachel's bed. We told Rachel that reading will corrupt her mind, so she smiles and piles books on her bed to read, as many as possible.

We just finished listening to this book on c.d.:



We loved it! Michael Reisman, the author, was inspired by the author Douglas Adams and the same cheeky fun mixed with science shines throughout this book. There is also a fair amount of menacing situations for the 3 young children in the book, too. The narrator, Nicholas Hormann, has a captivating voice and I enjoyed his portrayal of each of the characters. Noah exclaimed that this was his favorite book that he has heard on c.d. He has heard several. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the book, too. We will be reading the book as a family when we finish our Sisters Grimm selection (we are enjoying that one, as well). My advice is grab a towel when you read this book because you are going on a great trip!

I went for my walk yesterday, but I only did 3 miles so we wouldn't be late to my nephew, Tyler's birthday party. My right foot only hurt the first 2 miles :). Michael is going read up about how to tape my foot properly. Maybe that will help because staying off it isn't the greatest option.

:::::::::::::::::::::Speaking of Tyler::::::::::

He was KING of the day, yesterday. The fire station down on Ebenezer Rd, in Sharpsburg did a fabulous job showing the party kids their equipment. The "rookie" put on his turn out gear for us and let the kids get a photograph. The kids all got to play with the fire hose on the pumper truck and sit in it. The truck was brand new and had that "New Fire Truck Smell"! The EMTs showed us the ambulance and let Tyler get hooked up to the monitor and get a print out of his heart beat. They also let us tour their kitchen, sleeping quarters, and rec room. It was a really cool experience.

Afterwards, we went to Tracy and Joe's for some cake and juice. Evey picked out a snake Webkinz for Tyler and gave him a stuffed Gorilla. I'll post some photos when I locate where I put my uplink cable.

Michael's blog shows the flag at half mast for the 4 scouts who lost their lives during a tornado in Iowa. My stepdad, Jim, wrote a blog about what happened and it was a wonderful tribute to those boys. There was one particular scout that looked just like Aaron and my eyes spill over with tears and my heart aches with recognition. My prayers are with the family and friends of all those who are suffering.

::::::::::::::How I spent My Summer Vacation::::

1. Mowed the grass...ran over poison ivy in the backyard. (I wonder if there are cortisone speculators like they have for oil?) The weather was really beautiful.

2. trimmed a tree (I have no SKILLZ at this and the poor thing looks sillier than it did before, but I can see the cars and kids a bit better as I back out of the driveway.

3. Used the weed eater on the edge of the road in front of my house. I really enjoy this activity. I did, however, put off weed eating a large patch in the front yard that has...WAIT FOR IT...WAIT FOR IT...Poison Ivy. I know, I should just go for it. What are a few oozing lesion awaiting my dear spouse who hasn't seen me in a week.

4. Listened to my kids giggle while watching Napolean Dynamite and Murder By Death.

5. Digiscrapped

6. Washed and folded clothes.

7. Shopped at Target

8. Told my kids to clean their rooms a GAZILLION times. (Note to self, repetition is not necessarily effective).

9. Fed those kids of mine who are too slack to clean their room.

10. Mediated umpteen squabbles.

11. Read a few books...I liked them, too.

12. Enjoyed several walks in the park, while listening to podcasts from Wait Wait and Astronomy Cast.

...Summers not over so we will see about next week! :)

My Quirks:

1. I write notes on scraps of paper like old bills, envelops that the old bills came in, flyers, pamphlets, the kids school papers that don't have to be returned.

2. I prefer to have the window down in the car, as opposed to turning on the air conditioner. The cold air blowing on me gives me a headache.

3. I like to go to the hardware store and walk all of the different aisles, but I'm like a moth when it comes to the lighting aisle. Shiny, bright things...so cool!

4. I like to watch forensic shows, but would probably pass out at a real crime scene.

5. I hate the sound of people trimming their finger nails, or toe nails...especially in public. GET A ROOM PEOPLE!

6. I know most of the lines to the movie "Murder By Death" and I enjoy listening to it when I'm scrapbooking. I have the movie playing downstairs and I've watched it so many times I know what is going on in the scene.

::::::::::::::::Tennis, Anyone?::::::

The free movie was a bust because the rooms were full, so we stopped off at Play It Again Sports to get Rachel a racket for her beginners tennis class next week. The guy didn't have her size so he suggested Target. We left that store and walked down to Books For Less and bought a couple of drawing books. One was how to draw monsters and the other one was how to draw animals. Rachel chose an American Girl Book about Addy. She also got a book called Ghost Writer.
We finally loaded up and went to Target and picked up a racket for Rachel and her siblings. Eve said she wanted to learn tennis, too. Noah said he just wanted to play for fun with his sisters. I called the Community School when I got home and they had an opening in Eve's age group, so I signed her up. She will taking on the same day as Rachel, but a half an hour after Rachel's class is over.

I backed cookies when we got home from the store. I bagged up a dozen and went visiting teaching with Eve. She wanted to tag along.

Not much else, but trying to stay cool.

Summertime, Summertime...Sum...Sum...

Summertime... is time for Poison Ivy! Yes, I have it for the 4th year in a row. No matter how "clever" I was scouting my yard for the nasty things they snuck up and got the back of my left knee. It was probably when I was traipsing through the yard with the poison ivy killer spraying their kind. The irony isn't lost on me, neither is the itching pain. Alas, I'm a bit of an oozy mess on that one knee. Sorry, too much information, I know. On to more fun updates:

came to Georgia for a 2 week visit from Utah. She was so fun! She brought flower hair clips for all of the little girls. They were thrilled. We also got to have dinner with her, yesterday. We met up with some of the siblings, spouses and Michael's mom at the Olive Garden. I wasn't feeling too well, but the meal went very well and we got to talk guitars, food, vacations, and work with our brother-in-law, Matthew. Rachel started her 4 day drama camp, today. She was exhausted when I picked her up from the school. She also ran off the neighbor's house who is attending the same class so they could create a prop for their play. The theme is "spies".

Michael took the kids to the outdoor pool near our house and they had a blast going down the water slides. Eve was just tall enough to take part. I stayed home with Aaron so he could finish up his last school assignments. He has a final draft and an assessment, then he will be finished for the year.

Mighty Casey Has Struck Out...

My darling Rachel had no joy in Mudville (aka Science Olympiad). She came home very sad because she had lost in all three of the categories she had entered. She was the most upset because she was unable to win any of the prizes, which she hoped to use for a birthday gift for Noah, next week. She wanted to get the gift through her own efforts. Last week she lost her coin purse that contained all of her money, so she so this as her last chance for a gift. I told her that I was proud of her for trying and that I could take her to the store to find Noah something and she could give it with her name.

She was happy about her art class where they studied Michaelangelo's "David". Here is Rachel's version:

::::::::::::::::Yard Work ::::::::

I worked in the yard a lot, yesterday. Eve "helped" me clip weeds and avoid poison ivy. I have located several no places with poison ivy has cropped up, so I dread my next round of Caladryl, but the rains came and put off my need to self-medicate for a few more days.

A weekend packed with activites was had by all!

1. Michael taught the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge with Aaron in attendance.
(This badge has an overnight requirement, so the guys built lean-tos from bamboo and a tarp, then slept in them.)

2. Victoria and Rachel attended In-Gathering for Girl Scouts from Friday to Sunday morning.

3. Noah and Rachel hung out with Granny and Grandpa on Friday night and Saturday. They attended a birthday party for a friend of ours, then Granny Sue took them to see the new flick, "Iron Man".

4. Sunday, I realized Noah had a project on Australia due TODAY. So at 7pm. Michael and I asked Noah what he wanted to talk about in his project. He loves kangaroos, so he did his project on the Red Kangaroo. He used a drawing Michael had made a few months ago as the back drop, then Michael gave him the pastels and Noah made two kangaroo puppets and the shrubbery and rocks. Then, Noah typed up his report on Michael's laptop, while I printed out some Red Kangaroo photos from the internet on one sheet of paper. Those kangaroos were pasted into the scenery. Noah then grabbed the scissors and cut off the paper excess and pasted his report to the shoe box lid. He plans to ask for a volunteer to help be his other kangaroo puppet as he gives his report. He was so excited with the outcome that he said, "Mom, you want to see me practice!" I love that enthusiasm. Michael was game to be the first volunteer and they hammed it up for the camera:

I'll have Girl Scout photos, tomorrow, that will include "Carl" the frog that Rachel rescued from the pool. I will also provide details from the fantastic skit the girls and I pulled together with 1 hours notice. These are such drama queens and they put it to good use.

::::::::::::::::Eve is Sick:::::::::

Eve complained of a sore throat last night while creating puppets alongside her brother. Michael and I checked her throat and her tonsils are swollen. She refused a lozenge and liquid medicine. Around 3 she woke me up with a bad coughing fit. I laid down with her for a bit, then went down and located medicine that fit her symptoms. I took her in to our room to administer the liquid, so she wouldn't wake her siblings. Then daddy gave her a big hug for being brave and I took her back to bed and slept with her until Michael left for work.

She will skip preschool today, but go to her ballet lesson at lunch time. She has her recital next week and she is a bit nervous and a lot excited.

Update

Hey all! Thanks for those who called and emailed about my dad. I just spoke with my stepmom for another follow-up. My dad is home. The doctors found that he was negative for cardiac enzymes, which indicate a heart attack. He passed his stress test and blood work. They are uncertain what caused his excruciating pain. He woke up with his jaw numb and his left arm completely numb, the other day. He has been in pain for about 2 months, but doesn't complain about things. He is a worker and is always up early to do things and for him to complain it has to be pretty horrible. My sister, Katherine, has made an appointment for further tests with another physician. They will try to determine what could be causing his symptoms.

:::::::::::::A Walk in the Park x 2:::::

I did my 4 mile walk, yesterday with a little bit of sprinkling rain. The clouds blew away and the sun came out shortly before I finished. Then, when Michael came home from work he invited me to walk with him. I wasn't going to pass on a chance to walk and talk with my sweetheart, so I donned my shoes again (my fabulous 7eeee's of joy!) We had a 4 mile walk to the park, around and back. We discussed the podcast of the wave/particle duality from Astronomy cast and extrapolated that to a comparison on evolution and creationism. Light walking topics, indeed!

For today's walk I listened to Astronomy Cast discussing "Space Junk" and "Detectors". I don't only listen to podcasts; I also love a bit of Earth, Wind and Fire to get the feet going. :)

The overnight Zoo trip is tomorrow and the weekend has In-Gathering for Rachel. Michael will be teaching a Wilderness Survival class for the Boy Scout merit badge. My mom is such a blessing for helping out with Noah and Eve while I'm gone! Thanks, MOM!

Phone Call

Scary news this morning: I received a call from my niece, Jessica, to tell me that my dad was at the hospital due to a heart attack. She gave me the cell number to reach my stepmom, Alice. She answered and she was in such a flustered state that she had just missed the exit for the emergency room. She said she would call me, as soon as, she knew anything more. I called Michael and my mom to let them know about what was going on. I went ahead and took Eve to school, then took a walk to the park. When I returned Alice had left a message to return her call. She said that the doctor's are uncertain if it was, in fact, a heart attack. He was still in emergency, but would be admitted for more tests. She said she didn't need anything, but to call her later. My dad is a tough old rooster.
