Put Away the Lighter Fluid and Matches

and read a book!

::::::::::::Banned Books::::::::
I was reading a friend's blog and she talked about Banned Book Week. I was eager to see if some of my favorites, or family reads were on the list. Here are a few:

Coming in at number 22: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
(We listened to her read it on tape, too. How racy!)

Coming in at number 41: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
(Sputter, cough of disbelief...!)

Coming in at number 52: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
(I was amazed by this book during high school...deep stuff.)

Coming in at number 70: Lord of the Flies by William Golding
(If you don't think this tale isn't useful just see how often it is referenced in The Lucifer Effect by Philip Zimbardo.

I typically have this knee jerk reaction to go out and read something just becasue it made some banned list. I'll confess that's the only reason I read the first Harry Potter book, Catcher in the Rye, and Forever. Of the three I could have lived without the later two.

Lord of the Flies and To Kill a Mockingbird were books we *had* to read at highschool for book reports, literature, etc. How on earth can classics like that all of a sudden be not okay. Didn't hurt us, LOL.

Ripper layouts you have Victoria, as usual. Hmmm Michael looks a bit pained in those stocks. Wonder if I can order one for down here, you know, for times when hubby is in the dog house!!! hahahahahahahahahahaha
