Noah and Oinkey
Noah suffers from Biblionarcolepsy. Now I'm not sure if this term is in any medical dictionary, but it works for me. Every night we have family reading time before bedtime. First, we read a chapter in the scriptures and then we read a just for fun book. Sometimes Noah can stay awake for 5 to 10 minutes, but never more than that. It doesn't matter with adjusting the time too much because he still falls asleep. He asked me last week what happened in the book The Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis. I said we finished reading that 3 weeks ago. We are currently reading Howl's Moving Castle. He is up to speed on the title of the book we're reading, but that's it. My husband and I really like to discuss the meaning of the stories and the different ideas in the books, so I feel bad that we can't do that with Noah. We teased him last week asking him if he had ever heard of a book... You know the things with a title and pages of text? He thought we were silly and promptly fell asleep.
Noah has a great stuffed animal friend he calls Oinkey. Now I'm not sure of the spelling it could be Oinkee instead. Since Noah can't spell anything he is cool with whatever I choose. Oinkey is a great companion since he is nice to cuddle, doesn't argue and doesn't mind being tied to various objects around the house, being dragged on the floor, and becoming his alter ego...SUPER OINKEY... which gives him the ability to be hurled through a room to simulate flying (repeatedly) and be realitively unscathed. Oinkey has a cousin...Oinkster, which is a duplicate stuffed animal because one of our dear friends, Rochelle, did not want the kids to fight...naive, but really sweet idea!
